PFT: RGIII looks polished in Redskins debut

Kenny Britt, Steve WattersonAP

The Titans are taking the high road with one of their most talented players.? The fact that he?s one of their most talented players likely played a role in the decision.

Receiver Kenny Britt posted a photo of his fine for missing a Tuesday rehab session on Instagram with a profane caption, but the Titans apparently won?t be taking further action against him.

Still coach Mike Munchak seemed to leave the door open for additional discipline.

?To be honest with you, I haven?t read anything he wrote,? Munchak said, via ESPN.com.? ?I just know that he commented on the fact that he was upset, and I?ll leave it at that.? If something else comes of it, or if we feel that something is necessary to be done, then it?ll be done. . . .? I don?t want to get into any details.? The bottom line is he didn?t follow some rules.? There are consequences, and that?s it.?

But Kenny also failed to ?follow some rules? when he had a four-letter tantrum about his fine.? And, in theory, there should be consequences for it.

The problem is that there?s only so much the Titans can do short of cutting him loose.? If a $9,915 fine for blowing off a rehab session prompts Britt to go off, what would a fine or a suspension for conduct detrimental to the team do?

If Britt were a second-string slappy, it would be much easier.? The Titans would fine him and suspend him and do whatever needs to be done to him to show him who?s boss, including ultimately cutting him.? With Britt showing the potential to become one of the best wideouts in the NFL, giving him the ultimate wake-up call would serve only to make some other team better, especially if Kenny getting cut causes Kenny to get the message.

And with the guy who drafted Britt now coaching a Rams team that desperately needs wideouts, it would take a lot to get the Titans to cut Britt.? So the prudent approach is to avoid further escalation of the situation and hope that a potential suspension from Commissioner Roger Goodell will get Kenny to finally change his ways and maximize his talents ? as a member of the Titans.
