Craig Sports Briefs for Oct. 12, 2013: Ciesco wins, Moffat County ...

The Moffat County girls cross country team ran tough in its final meet before the 3A regionals in Delta next Friday.



The Bulldogs took second in the Rifle Invitational at Rifle Creek Golf Course Thursday afternoon, with senior Brenna Ciesco winning the meet in a time of 20 minutes, 35 seconds.



Emily Womble has continued her surge in the second half of the season, placing fourth in 21:05. Makayla Johnson (21:32), Jesse Suits (22:03), Aubrey Campbell (22:24) and Kaylee Durham (22:34) also ran well for MCHS.



The boys team, once again running without junior Jarrett Johnson, took third overall in the meet. Steven Walls led the way for the Bulldogs in 18:55. Other times were not available as of Friday afternoon.



The regional meet is in Delta Oct. 18, with the top five teams advancing to state in Colorado Springs Oct. 25.







Parks and Rec seeking basketball officials



The Craig Parks and Recreation youth basketball leagues for third through sixth graders are coming up soon, and Parks and Rec is seeking officials for the games.



Prospective officials must inquire about the 2013 season by Oct. 16.



Officials must be at least 14. For more information contact Craig Parks and Rec at 970-826-2004.



Week four of Craig BCA in the books



The Craig Billiards Congress of America (BCA) pool league is now through four weeks of play, and the standings are still tight.



One-Eyed Bandits is still the No. 1 team in the league, but has not been able to pull away. At 678 points, they sit 21 ahead of Git R Done (667).



It is less than 40 points to go from second all the way down to fifth. Odd Ballz is just behind Git R Done at 658 points, while Out 4 Blood (643) and Uh-Oh (630) are also lurking.



Even No Ex-Cue-Ses, sitting in last currently, is not far back at 615 points.



BCA has chosen to cancel its Sunday league for now due to lack of interest. According to an e-mail from the league, it may restart during the winter.



Craig BCA plays Mondays at 6 p.m., at Popular Bar, 24 W. Victory Way.

Winter water aerobics beginning soon



Registration for water aerobics during the winter is now open through Craig Parks and Recreation.



Water aerobics offer a low-resistance method of training and can improve fitness and flexibility. The classes, held at Moffat County High School will be Mondays and Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. beginning Oct. 28.



Classes run through Jan. 15 and will not occur the week of Thanksgiving or winter break. To sign up for the session costs $45, or those interested can attend individual classes for $4. For more information, contact Craig Parks and Recreation at 970-826-2017.
